Jobs on Base

Perhaps you are wondering about what I do around the mission base down here, other than work with the teams...I have a daily duty of breakfast clean-up, which means washing dishes, putting away all the food, wiping down tables, sweeping and mopping, etc.
I´ve also been helping with meals some days...two of my roommates have to wake up early to make breakfast, so Ive helped them out with cooking up pancakes, french toast, and scrambled eggs a few days. This may surprise you, especially if you know how non-domestic I can be. I also flipped 90 burgers for dinner one night, that was quite a task! Cooking for 50-ish people can be overwhelming sometimes... I guess making meals for myself though when I get back shouldn´t be so bad!

Another job that I sometimes have on base is working in our pulperia, or ¨snack shack.¨ It has lots of candy and drinks and other snacks that the team likes to buy before and after we go do outreach. Its fun trying to figure out conversions between US dollars and Costa Rican colones, and of course eating M & M´s while I work is a nice perk. :)

So now you know this is not quite the Costa Rican vacation you might expect... cooking, cleaning, etc - I guess God really can use us in amazing ways when we are willing!
